If your Mercedes’ A/C system works well in the morning but struggles to cool down the interior in the afternoon after it’s been sitting in the hot sun, or if you have the driver’s side warmer that the passenger side, you may have to have your freon levels topped off or recharged. In the relative cooler morning air, the system may deliver enough cold air out of the vents to satisfy your needs, however, with the added heat accumulated by sitting in the hot sun all afternoon, or simply the higher afternoon temperatures, the air conditioning system in your Mercedes will have to be running in its optimum, otherwise it will deliver warm air through the vents.
Another symptom of low freon levels in your Mercedes A/C system is cooler air from the right side (passenger) vents and warmer air from the driver’s. This is due to low freon level in your A/C system. The level of freon is enough to cool the passenger side because there is not enough freon gas to do the job properly, it loses its efficiency by the time it gets to the driver’s side. This is remedied by simply evacuating the entire system and refilling it with the proper amount of freon, using a specialized charging system.
